Recently I got a call at work from my wife, Fiona. She had just taken another call saying that Steve White was sailing his Open 60 Race Yacht “Toe In The Water” that same night to France, to have some work done to the boat and that he had invited me to sail with him.

I think it was a prudent call as it was all a little fruity out there.

Yesterday we had two races in class IRC 1. Toe in the Water had a short practise with a couple of tacks and gybes with the spinnaker then we were off lining up and jostling for position on the start line for race 1. All was looking good, then

It was around 8 pm when the gun went off and that was it, the Fastnet Race was over. According to Steve White, this has been the slowest one he's done so far.
