Cowes Week
Sailing at Cowes Week - Dee Caffari
Posted August 14th, 2008 by Dee CaffariAnother fabulous Cowes week comes to an end and many smiling guests of Aviva have had an enjoyable experience. They have sailed onboard the Open 60 and seen a little of what Cowes Week is all about. The sun came out on occasion and the wind was plenty to sail with. |
Cowes Week - Ellen MacArthur
Posted August 8th, 2008 by Ellen MacArthurIt’s been a busy week so far during Skandia Cowes Week for us at OC, and it’s not yet over! We have been racing the Extreme 40’s for the past three mornings, out on a course which takes us out to the west towards Gurnard. These boats never cease to amaze me – or the 5th man, different guests whom we have on board for the morning races. The team onboard of Walshy (Andrew Walsh), Ed (Barney) and Oli (Dickens) are great, and not only do we get out there and race, but we also have a laugh at the same time. |
Sailing at Cowes Week
Posted August 7th, 2008 by Dee CaffariTuesday saw winds peaking at 23 knots for the Artemis Challenge. Eight boats took to the start line for some really close racing and a true spectacle of how exciting the Open 60 are fully powered up. Ecover 3 and Aviva challenged for the start line and we all sailed hard and fast through the showers towards the Needles. |
Artemis Challenge at Cowes Week
06 Aug Cowes, UK - Celebrities and All Star sailors were seen sailing some slick Open 60 yachts around the Isle of Wight yesterday in the Artemis Challenge Yacht Race. Dee Caffari, Sam Davies, Brian Thompson, Ellen MacArthur, Steve White, Mike Sanderson, and others were out sailing for charity, and of course, for fun. |
Spills and Thrills at iShares Cup UK - Sailing at Cowes Week
05 Aug Cowes UK - Though rarely disappointing, the racing of the Extreme 40 iShares Cup catamarans definitely proved EXTREME this week, as the winds never fell below 25 knots during all three days of racing. The lucky spectators at this year's Cowes Week had a real treat as they watched high speed hull-up racing, one sailboat capsize after another, and dramatic crashes these past few days, as the iShares Cup fleet and all-star sailors tested their skills sailing off the Isle of Wight. High action, top sailors and big winds - yacht racing just doesn't get much more exciting than this. |
