Tall Ships Race – Sailing the North Sea
26 Jul Måløy, Norway – Around 3,000 sailors, more than half of them between the ages of 15 and 25, and seventy classic sailing ships and yachts have been crossing the North Sea on the first leg of the 2008 Tall Ships Race. The first across the line will likely be the rather modern ketch Alba Explorer, with the thoroughly un-modern tall ship Christian Radich hot on her heels and in first place overall.

New York Wins Clipper Round the World Yacht Race
07 Jul The sailing crews of the 07-08 Clipper Round the World Yacht Race arrived back in Liverpool on Saturday, marking the end of their 35,000-mile circumnavigation. These amateur sailors (each boat having a professional skipper) battled it out around the world, sailing through calms and gales - enjoying all the pleasures, pains, mechanical breakdowns, and various character building experiences of a circumnavigation under sail. |
Clipper Round the World Yacht Race on its Last Leg
03 Jul Irish Sea, UK - The sailing fleet from the 07-08 Clipper Round the World Yacht Race is now on the final stretch, and expected to land in Liverpool Saturday the 5th of July. This 14th leg of the 35,000 mile race is a short sprint from Cork, Ireland to Liverpool, UK, and will give the sailing teams the chance for one last competition before closing the loop on their circumnavigation.

Tall ship races will be held in the UK again this summer with visits to Liverpool in July and Falmouth in September. These events regularly draw millions of people to the ports to view the sailing fleet.
