Olympic Sailing Yngling Medals - Great Britain takes the Gold
17 Aug Qingdao, China - Who'd have thought it? Well, almost everybody, but that doesn't take any of the glory from the fact that Britain's Yngling Girls (aka: Three Blondes in a Boat; the Sequel), have taken home Olympic Gold in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. This makes two of the three, Sarah Ayton, and Sarah Webb, double-gold medalists for this event, and Pippa Wilson a first-time Olympic champion. From start to finish, these ladies of Britannia |
Sailing at the Olympics - Yngling Race Results
10 Aug Qingdao, China - It looks like there may be a sequel to last Olympics' "Three Blondes on a Boat" as the Yngling ladies from Britain are in first place after the first two day's sailing. The Olympic sailing course in Qingdao is a bit of a crap-shoot, where taking chances can pay off big, or leave you gasping at the back of the fleet. Light-air Sailboat Racing
01 Feb 369 sailors from 34 countries took to Biscayne Bay for another day of light-air races at the Rolex Miami OCR today. This regatta is one of the biggest world-ranking regattas for sailors in Olympic and Paralympic classes. With racing having started on Monday, only one racing day remains before winners can be named in the Paralympic classes for SKUD-18, Sonar and 2.4mR. |

Yngling World Championship - Maimi: The British team of Sarah AYTON, Sarah WEBB and Pippa WILSON are the 2008 Yngling World Champions. While this led team had the title sown up with an unassailable leading margin, even before starting the medal race, the battle for silver was a much tighter affair.
With just six months to go until the start of the 2008 Olympic Sailing Competition, it’s been an action-packed start to the sailing year. The 49er, 470, Finn and RSX classes have already held their World Championships, with the Lasers and Ynglings set to begin later this week, followed by the Tornados then the Laser Radials in March and finally the Stars in April.
