Alternatives to the Panama Canal? Forum
Posted April 25th, 2008 by noraDoes anyone know of an alternative way to get the boat across to the Pacific? Either onboard a freight ship or by road?
Our boat is stuck in a long queue waiting to transit the Panama Canal. Right now, the expected transit date is 15th June and there are 78 yatchs in front of us. We have been waiting since the 8th April already. As our boat has ten owners which divide the year between them, this is for us a very unfortunate situation.
The boat is a aluminium sail yacht.

Transiting the Panama Canal - Blogs
Posted February 5th, 2008 by ARCWe left San Blas just before Kasuje but arrived more than an hour later in Shelter Bay around 09:40 St Lucian time. Passage was OK, but I didn't sleep much. Lots of moaning about putting up more sail and racing Kasuje! I resisted the calls when I was up, on the grounds that we are not in a hurry and people on board need to sleep and be comfortable, rather than have the boat crash around all night! |

Panama - Race 10 of the Clipper 'Round the World Yacht Race took of today from Panama in fluky winds ranging from 12 to 30 knots. The fleet is now sailing towards Jamaica, where they are expected to arrive in Errol Flynn Marina, Port Antonio, late on Wednesday night or early Thursday morning.
