Sydney, Australia - The Cruising Yacht Club of Australia held its 23rd annual Audi Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race this past weekend, where the fleet experienced all the joys and hardships a yacht race has to offer. A fleet of 75 yachts representing Queensland, Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia and New South Wales sailed out of Sydney Harbour on Saturday to run the 384 nautical mile Gold Coast Yacht Race course, all with the aim to win this prestigious Australian sailing event.

Team Mowbray Expeditions is looking to beg, borrow, charter, hire, rent (not buy or steal) a suitable boat for an upcoming trip departing Newcastle or Sydney (or possibly Brisbane) bound for Norfolk Island and return, starting “latish” September, finishing “middish” October 2008.

Big Winds at the Sydney Harbour Regatta - Australia

Strong and gusty southerly winds sorted the tough from the not so tough at the Audi Sydney Harbour Regatta in Australia this weekend.

Adding to winds that reached 25 knots, confused seas resulted in race officials calling a halt to racing for the Adams 10, Sydney 32 and Sports Boats on the Manly Circle which caused mixed emotions amongst crews.

“We were pretty disappointed with the decision to call off racing in our division” said Chris Williams, skipper of Team G.U.E.
