Archipelago Raid Sweden - Proust Wins Sailing Kalix
18 Jun Stockholm, Sweden - Eric Proust and Romain Motteau have won the six day Archipelago Raid sailing race on the catamaran Kalix. This race through the Åland and Finnish archipelago has tested not only the sailing expertise, but the endurance and orienteering skills of these extreme athletes. |
Archipelago Raid - Sailing to the Finish
17 Jun Rödhamn, Åland - With the end nearly in sight, the 2-person sailing teams have been working hard to make the Archipelago Raid their own. The 18 foot catamarans have been zig-zagging through the thousands of rocks and islands of the archipelago, and have experienced everything from blistering fast reaches to bobbing about in dead calm. In this event that rewards navigation, sailing and endurance, a tight fleet shows that the competition is serious, and the smiles show it's been seriously fun. |
Extreme Sailing in Sweden - The Archipelago Raid
14 Jun Stockholm, Sweden - Take a bunch of top sailors, put them on small Formula 18 catamarans, and send them out on a 6 day marathon race where they only know the next checkpoint as little as an hour before rounding the last one, and you have the extreme sailing and orienteering race known as the Archipelago Raid. Teams of two sailors must sail intensely, day and night, through a unique course of 20-25 of these checkpoints, strewn among 100,000 rocks and islands of the Stockholm, Åland and Finnish archipelago. |
Sailing in Denmark ... And Sweden!
Posted November 20th, 2007 by HrKaptajnSweden is just an hour or two away from eastern Sealand on the other side of "Øresund" - the Sound between Denmark and Sweden. Although the two contries look quite alike, Sweden has a lot of beautiful harbours and marinas. And best (or worst - if you hit them) is that they got cliffs. To a Dane this is both exciting and challenging - and beautiful. This picture is from Mølle at the rock-formation called Kullen.
