How fickle the weather can be but how grateful are we for some long awaited sunshine. I had almost forgotten what the sun looked like! The agreeable weather is fantastic news for the PSP Southampton Boat Show which opened on Friday with Mike Golding bringing the victorious Olympic sailors to the show onboard ECOVER. It was a great opportunity to see some famous faces and the ten day event looks set to be a great success as it celebrates its 40th year.

I launched the new Southerly 38 to the largest British yacht manufacturers, Northshore's, range of yachts. It was very deceiving as the yacht was like a tardis below decks. I also had the pleasure of awarding Dean and Reddyhoff an environmental prize on behalf of the Green Blue for their work on recycling at their marinas.

The weekend saw my final challenge still outstanding on Aviva get ticked off. I finally scaled the dizzy heights of the mast, thanks to Chips Rafferty who was overseeing my equipment and technique. I would not say it is a pleasant experience but now I have reached the top it is all about gaining confidence.
