Sailing Photo - Marriage Proposal at Big Boat Series in San Francisco Bay

We've seen some inventive ways for sailors to pop the question, but this one takes the cake. This photo of Mario Yovkov's boat Great Sensation sailing in the 1D35 class at the Rolex Big Boat Regatta was taken by YachtPals' own Peter Lyons.

Despite finishing 2nd, just 3 points behind winner Gary Boell's Diablita, at this year's Big Boat Regatta, Mario came out of the regatta a big winner. He is now engaged to his fiance Elizabeth Gaynor by way of a dramatic marriage proposal on his kite. Rounding the mark, Mario's crew on Great Sensation hoisted a spinnaker with "Will You Marry Me" emblazoned across it. Elizabeth was on the observation deck and ecstatically accepted as the boat passed by the Saint Francis Yacht Club!

Wondering...

Sailor (anonymous)'s picture

... how many of the other guys on the boat have girlfriends, and how many thought the 'chute was for them?

Uncomfortable! ;-D
