Cruising in Mexico - Blog
Posted April 7th, 2008 by phoebeIts spring and time for a update, it has been a while since our last letter. We are in Mazatlan, have rented a house near the beach and Phoebe's school. The neighborhood is called Sabalo Country. It is at the north end of the city and also close to the marina where we keep Paxil. And yes we did say Phoebe's school. She began in January. The name of her school is Instituto Britanico and is a by-lingual program. |
Cruising in La Cruz Mexico - Blog
Posted March 25th, 2008 by phoebeWe are in La Cruz and are waiting to get our main sail repaired by Russ and Debby on S/V Zephrus. We had an accidental jibe and broke the preventer line and the sail caught up on the spreader and tore a 24" slit on the top. That happen last Tuesday when we were surfing around Cabo Corrientes near Roca Negra but we did 13kts overground and 11.5 on the log and then ouch!!! |
Sailboat in Mazatlan, Mexico
Posted December 30th, 2007 by phoebeHola. We are starting to settle into the Mexican lifestyle here in M town. We have the bus routes down pat and are enjoying the local scene and actually went to a night club for the first time since we left the city. |
Baja sailing - Turtle, Santa Maria, Magdalena Bays and Cabo
Posted December 12th, 2007 by phoebeWe left Turtle Bay two and a half weeks ago. We caught a good weather window with good wind and seas. The trip took forty two hours of mostly sailing. We had some excitement on the second night. While on his watch Jeffrey got to see the brightest and largest meteor in his life. |
The Whale and Cruising south in baja
Posted November 21st, 2007 by phoebeWell we decided to start our trek down the coast of Baja the same day as the Baja 1000 started in town though be it a lot slower trip it just somehow seemed appropriate. As a few of you know we decided to gunk hole our way down the coast rather than going straight shot to here then to Magdalena bay and then of coarse Cabo.

We're in Bahia San Quentin, Mexico
Posted November 18th, 2007 by phoebeWe're in Bahia San Quentin, we're anchored in like 12 feet of water. We just had a whale use our bow roller, chain, keel, and stern anchor rode to scrape barnacles off himself, as well as the side of the boat! For the last 1/2 hour to hour! Got some great pictures... We're all fine and well. This is our third stop... We did Puerto Santo Tomas, Bahia Colonet, and now we're in Bahia San Quentin. |
Cruising in Mexico - Blog
Posted November 10th, 2007 by phoebeSorry for not updating you all sooner but we are on cruising time. At our last note we had just arrived at Catalina Island through smoke and a bit of wind. |
Paxil in Catalina
Posted October 24th, 2007 by phoebeWe are in Catalina now came in on Monday night, we came across the channel in winds as high as 51knots, and the boat held up well. No sea sickness at all. We were standing on the rails for sometime. Saw Dolphins swimming through it like it was nothing at all. We are anchor in Catalina Harbor which is on West side of the island due to winds and smoke. |
Tips for Santa Barbara
Posted October 19th, 2007 by phoebeOk so we are at the marina, sixty cents per foot per day, the marina has a on line service but it is poor at best. But you can get free Internet at the library and the best part is the bus is only 25 cents each way. Just take a short walk to the pier and jump the bus up town. The bus is all electric and has no glass in the windows. |
Paxil Adventures - Week 2
