Goo Gone - Sailing Center Cleared of Algae for Olympics

Qingdao, China - Reports are that the Olympic Goo is no longer threatening the Qingdao Sailing venue. Through the efforts of thousands upon thousands of people, and thousands of boats, China now declares that the stinking green algae has been conquered. Well, perhaps 'subdued' is a better term, as there are still a few bits and pieces around, but 600,000 tons of the stuff were removed in just the last two weeks. Overall, it looks like the Goo is gone!
With over three weeks to go, the question is whether the algae (Enteromorpha Prolifera) will return. Chinese experts believe that by the use of a 13-mile long boom currently offshore of the course, they will be able to keep any future blooms controlled. Authorities continue to say that the freakish phenomenon was entirely natural, while environmentalists are looking at sewage and other forms of nitrogen as the cause.
