"Ever After" is a 1980 Aloha 27, (hull #39) manufactured in Whitby, Ontario, Canada by Ouyang (later Aloha) Yachts. Production run was from 1979 through 1986 with some 188 vessels constructed. A fractional rig, "Ever After" (as most of the earlier A27's), points extremely well and is a bit stiffer than the Aloha 28. A rig change in 1983(?) added about a foot to the "E" measurement of the main, apparently to combat a tendency of lee helm, but we've never had a problem.
6' headroom, nicely appointed interiors and ample storage are features of the boat. There are a few A27's located in the U.S. but most have stayed in Canada.
The photo is of "Ever After" on race day, in 20 knots of breeze, and really isn't close to rail-down, even with a 150% genoa and full main up.The vessels in the background are a Redwing 30 at left and a C&C 30 to the right of us, both of which curiously overstood the mark allowing us to snare 1st in cruising class and 3rd overall.
