How not to install a New Yanmar Diesel Engine

Having lost my exhaust valves on the old 11 HP Farymann on memorial day Friday , I ordered up a new Yanmar 2 GM20F through my local 'authorized' Yanmar dealer. The engine was delivered a week later -- where it sat in the rain on lund's back loading dock till I discovered it there Tuesday am. Lund's next job was to 'fair' the engine beds and upsize the raw water seacock for the engine. Went in Tues night to check the beds-- they had ground the perfectly good old fibreglas beds to the hull, then faired up 2 new beds . the problem was - the new beds were out of fair both as to the angle and as to the height. i thought that having one bed 2 inches higher than the otehr was a bad idea... went to talk to the manager --? Did you know that the new beds are out of fair ? " gee No..' "What prop shaft angle are you planning on ? " "Hmm i dont know.. "Well why dont you check the install manual and tell me ... ? " (They didn't have one -- oops !!) -- next disaster -- the same day-- while drilling into the hull to upsize a aw water feed seacock-- they 'accidentally ' drilled thru one of the 2 the travel lift straps holding my 11000 boat up-- then splashed it back into the h 20 without SEALING the seacock Hole .. where upon the Boat started to fill with Lake Erie... thank god for wooden plugs and 2 bilge pumps , that is all that kept the boat from filling as we frantically hand pumped...then LUND tried to charge me $300 for the unfair beds, and $150 for the seacock hole ... i finally had the boat TOWED to another marina whichy finished the engine install perfectly..
Needless to say LUND'S in Erie PA will never get any more of my business. fortunately I ahd ordered the yanmar INSTALL manual for $25 and was able to catch the disasters BEFORE they occurred. Query: -- should one plan to live in your VW camper bus, as i did, to supervise the 'Yan Mar certified' mechanic at the 'Yan Mar authorized dealer boat yard , while your new diesel engine is being installed ????

You know why "Per-Fessionals" hate having you watch them? 'Cause the guy who's working for $15/hr on your boat is worth only $15/hr. You're paying, what $95?
