Hi All,

Am receiving conlficting advice about best route up the West Coatst of US this summer.

I had my heart set on offshore (about 200 miles) to pick up more wind, avoid traffic, avoid southbound current, etc.  Some say yes, others say no way--too rough, not much difference in conditions but way more exposure. etc.

Anybody here done that route, any advice?

thanks! m

I have not done the trip myself, but my friends seem to find the most success with the harbor hopping route.  Anyone disagree?

I have to agree. Everyone I know sails down and motors up. The only thing that will be in your favor going out 200 miles is you are past all the drift wood and deadhead logs.
