Sea Vixen - Blog

Well, I went and done it. I bought a sailboat, a 1960 Rawson 30. She's called Sea Vixen. Currently, she's on the hard in La Paz, Mexico.

I'm a pro photographer and video journalist, and haven't sailed for quite a few years. In addition to myself, there will be a friend of mine and his 2 sons. Neither my friend or his sons have ever been on anything larger than a 16' aluminum fishing boat.

I've made arrangements for a seasoned captain to tune me up and line out my crew for a day or two. Then it's off to Mazatlan and then to PV. I'll be documenting the whole trip both in stills and video. The video will be posted on www.travelchannel.com, in the search bar type in Sea Vixen. The first videos should be up by May 18, 2008. Hopefully on the way, I can make a little extra for my cruising kitty doing still photos and maybe video brochures for yacht owners.

Anyway, we will be arriving in La Paz on April 30, to make sure Sea Vixen is dressed up for her christening and maiden voyage. Leaving La Paz on May 2nd or 3rd and Arriving PV around the 9th or 10th, weather permitting of course. So it ought to be interesting to say the least. Keep checking back for updates.
