Boat on the run (well, reach?)

Boating and Sailing News 01 Apr

Farollones

Attention all Pacific Mariners. The vessel Pterodactyl (a green Olson 40) chucked its two crew in last weekend's Farallones race, and has escaped captivity. It was last seen headed out to sea.

“We try to keep these ornery ones held in at the gate” says long-time boat wrangler Sneezing Joe, “but these damned races where they take a bay boat and let 'em taste the open Pacific, well, you get a spirited boat out there and they're likely to buck you right off and head for Hawaii. Heck, wouldn't you?”

Yes, indeed, Sneezing Joe. Yes, indeed...

There is a reward, so if you find the boat nuzzling up to yours in an anchorage or playing around at night in a shipping lane, please tie her up and call her owner. She's not a bad boat, just rambunctious.
