Congratulations Bob, I mean Captain Bob
Did you go to a class, or do it on your own?
OUPV
I enrolled in one of those three week courses. Enjoyed it, many stories and real life experiences shared making the class interesting and relevant to the topic at hand.
Many congratulations on

the hardest part...
well, congrats but the hardest part is yet to come... the paperwork!
actaully, the paperwork isnt' that bad it's the loooonnnngggg wait while the USCG processes your application. It varies by port but Miami us about 5 months! And dont' forget that effective later this year (sept?) you will need a TWIC from the TSA to apply...
And as you probalby know, you also need the medical, drug test and a recent First Aid class...

What is the TWIC?
The school I attended spends quite sometime explaining axactly how the paperwork needs to be submitted. They will even review the paperwork for you prior to you submitting it. All down hill from here I hope....
Congratulations capt. Bob.
