On problem sharing
Posted September 22nd, 2008 by timminockyI’ve been having problems with my boats engine for quite some time now. Unfortunately I’m not that good with engines but I am learning (the hard way). Now, don’t please ask what the original problem was ‘cause I’ve been messing with it for so long I’ve forgotten. |
Electric Motoring - Forum
Posted June 13th, 2008 by timminockyHas anyone had any experience of using an electric motor as an auxiliary on a sailboat?
Will the process of charging the batteries outweigh any advantages?
SOS - Forum
Posted May 26th, 2008 by timminockyWithin hours of being scooped from shark-infested seas off the Australian coast British diver Richard Neely and his American partner, Allyson Dalton, were signing up for a reputed mega-buck tabloid deal, plus US and British TV deals and with a possible book and film in the offing.
The Artemis Transat - Forum
Posted May 25th, 2008 by timminockyThe podium may be full and all the attention on the winners but spare a thought for all those still out there struggling in the cold, the wet and the light airs.

The Queen of England, Elizabeth II, has won "squatter's rights" over the mud at the bottom of St Pierre Pill.
Posted March 7th, 2008 by timminockySt Pierre Pill is the muddy creek, where the Chepstow and District Yacht Club have their moorings. The queen came to the rescue of the club after Mark Roberts a controversial Cardiff businessman who owns the paper title "Lord Marcher of Magor", among others claimed that it gave him rights to the land. |
Rebuilding Mignonne
Posted February 4th, 2008 by timminockyMany years ago, in the boat yard where I kept a previous boat, there were a couple of lovely old sailing cruisers, which had been abandoned, for whatever reasons the owners had left them to rot. One in particular had clearly been a little gem in her hay day. I kept hoping that someone would buy her and restore her to her former glory. Back then, I had neither the time nor the courage to take her on. Then one day the yard owners took a chain saw to her! |
SkySails
Posted January 27th, 2008 by timminockyI’m considering changing employers. While scouring the internet for information on the company, DHL, which I am thinking of moving to, I came across the news that DHL is the first outfit to use the MS ‘Beluga SkySails’ cargo vessel commercially.
Christmas at sea
16 Dec
Oh, I must go down to the sea again To sail o’er the wind and the surf Though I’m not all that keen If you see what I mean But, I must get my money’s worth.
