Ted Kennedy, Back at the Helm

Boating and Sailing News 23 May

Senator Ted Kennedy Sailing

U.S. Senator Ted Kennedy, a lifelong sailor, was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor on Tuesday. Two days later, the Senator was released from the hospital (early), and spared no time in getting back on the water.

Senator Kennedy, his wife Victoria, and their two dogs Splash and Sunny waded through the crowds of well-wishers, stepped aboard their classic 50' 1927 woody schooner, and cast off for a nice Hyannis Port sail, just hours after leaving the hospital.

Said the Senator upon his return: "It was wonderful to be on the water. It's all it takes." While Kennedy's prognosis is less than ideal, those who were there at the docks said the Senator looked happy and well.

Fair Winds, Senator. We'll see you out on the water.
