Time with Family and Friends - Dee Caffari

As the last few days of being based in the UK tick away, final preparations are being done in great detail.
The guys have worked hard on the boat and with the British weather showing a kinder side have had no hold ups and the boat is already back in the water getting ready for some more sailing.
Without a boat to sail I have been busy with media commitments both in France and the UK, with the most impressive sight being just yesterday where we managed to get all the British skippers in this year's Vendee Globe together in one place. That is no mean feat I can assure you.
This week also saw my final visit to Leeds Met Carnegie for a check on my preparations for the race. I am clearly peaking at the right time as without injury I was able to perform my personal bests in the gym on all the disciplines we have been regularly testing. I was very pleased with that result as were they.
Any free time now is about spending time with friends and family as it will be time to say goodbye before we know it. The good thing for me is that I will be away for less time than for the Aviva Challenge. That will definitely help me when things get tough.
Dee
