Campbell River
British Columbia - CANADA
Campbell River is the gateway to Desolation Sound and Johnstone Straight and the cruising areas north. It is the major provisioning stop in the Desolation sound area, and most boats stop in on their way north toward Alaska. There are a couple of major marinas for sailboats in the downtown area, where it is easy to get around on foot and shop at the major stores and chandleries.

Kwkiutl and Laich-kwil-tach First Nations have their home lands here along the shores of Vancouver Island in the area named today Campbell River first settled by the Wewaykum tribe. The sufficient supply of gaming and fishing did not have the tribes wanting for much. Smoked salmons and vegetation traditionally preserved kept them fed throughout the year. There is a museum near Discovery Harbour Marina.Climate:
