Lighted Boat Parade
S/V MoonPearl and crew participate in the San Rafael lighted boat parade last Saturday. The parade, which is a fundraiser for Community Action Marin (advocates for the poor), was held on the San Rafael Canal in California. Around a hundred boats participated this year, and most went all out since attendance was also high with people cheering from both watersides. Our theme this year was "Island Christmas". We used lighted palm trees, flamingos, parrots, flowers, shiny grasses, and hung a "tropical moon" over the boat.
It was great fun, with the crowd cheering, and all the other boats waving and yelling back and forth. We all dressed in island wear, which was tough since it dropped into the 50's, played loud island tunes, and danced around like fools on deck. A good deed for charity, boating with friends, playing reggae as loud as you want while the police cheer on, and getting to act like a silly fool - yep, a great Saturday.

It sure would have been nice to be acknowledged as the person who was responsible for the vision, concept and design of this parade entry as well as the co-owner of MoonPearl. It was awesome. Thanks for the moment. Cindy
