New Owner - Sails Available at North Sails
Posted May 18th, 2012 by BevSailorJust purchased a 2005 Nomad. Looking forward to getting it in the water. I'm going to be sailing it in MA coastal waters and keeping it on a mooring primarily.
I need a new jib so I contacted North Sails via phone. They have the original designs/specs and gave me prices for Dacron Jib ($340) and Main ($540). I ordered a jib, but won't have it for 8 weeks. I'll suffer with old one until then.
I also need a new GNAV car for the boom. These are available at Annapolis Performance Sail. Not cheap, but better than the hose clamp that is there now.
Our new good old boat
Posted May 15th, 2012 by msr_holidayNovember 2011 we purchased our "new" good old boat in New Bern, NC. Primrose is a Moody 42 pilot house ketch. July 2012 we move aboard and begin cruising the East Coast. |
Cruising the Caribbean Islands
Posted May 15th, 2012 by Dolce VitaWe pulled out of Marathon, Florida and pointed the sails to cross the great Gulf Stream toward the Bahaman Islands. The sail was comfortable and we arrived a day later to check-into the Bahaman islands at Cat Cay. After a one day stop over there we were off to Chub Cay in the Biminis island chain. We pulled anchor at 5:30am and headed across the Great Bahamas banks. We sailed across the bank for more than 10 hours with the depth of water never exceeding more than 12 feet deep. |

Best Anti-Foul Hull Paint for Rawson 30
Posted May 10th, 2012 by endo39Hello:
We are the new owners of a 1970's vintage Rawson 30 (non-pilot house)!
Looking for advice on the Best Anti-Foul Hull Paint for this fine vessel? She will live in Fresh Riverwater on the Duwamish when moored in Seattle and will be sailed in Puget Sound.
Please offer any suggestions as we are new the cruising world and will cut our teeth around the San Juan Islands after many many years away from sailing.
Matthew & Beverly
(will rename our new baby when we come up with a winner)

Countdown to Launch...!
Posted May 2nd, 2012 by RachelIn less than 14 days, Andrew Morris and Roz Savage will be departing from St John's Canada on their epic adventure as they row across the North Atlantic to Bristol UK. Bojangles (their boat) refit was completed in San Fransicso where she'd been on display at the Maritime Museum since crossing the Pacific Ocean. Loaded up for transport by sponsor DHL, she left the city last week, en route for St John's in Canada where she's just arrived safe and sound. |

Posted April 22nd, 2012 by BearslayerAlaska to Anacortes in March is not a real fun trip. Mostly spent holed up waiting to sprint to another place to hole up while the weather gets better... Mostly this is a test to figure out how to get my blog going when I get back to cruising...this time South to Mexico and beyond.
