Cruising in La Cruz Mexico - Blog

We are in La Cruz and are waiting to get our main sail repaired by Russ and Debby on S/V Zephrus.

We had an accidental jibe and broke the preventer line and the sail caught up on the spreader and tore a 24" slit on the top. That happen last Tuesday when we were surfing around Cabo Corrientes near Roca Negra but we did 13kts overground and 11.5 on the log and then ouch!!!

We pulled into La Cruz yesterday and we find Russ and Debby in the anchorage. So today we both moved into the marina, them to clean and wash down, and to repair our main.

We are hoping to go up the coast tomorrow afternoon and maybe do a jungle trip in San Blas and then to Isabella and then Mazatlan. We had a Hump Back calf playing with us this morning and then mom came along and broke it up.

We motor to PV this morning for fuel and supplies then back to La Cruz. La Cruz marina is expensive they charge for everything. Every time you land you dingy they charge $10, so the cruisers are all staying on there boats in the anchorage and only going in groups.

It is to cold here to do much on the beach or in the water. The locals say it has not been this cold in 30 years. The water has actually got colder since January. The fisherman are real unhappy no fish. But Easter here is interesting they all go to the beach for big family parties and camping. But there were not the crowds they were hoping for. The cruisers are small groups as well and not spending money .

Well I am going for a walk, need to explore while I can. Will write soon with pics. Hopefully with pic of crocks at San Blas.
