How not to load your boat freezer
Posted April 14th, 2008 by Salty DogSix weeks. We were provisioned for at least six weeks. Cordelie showed about a half inch of bottom paint, and we were ready to go. We'd just spent three days near Campbell River, making run after run to various suppliers as we'd find just a little more space to pack away some more cans of green beans. The last run was the fresh meat and veggies, and then we were off.

New YachtPals Web Server!
Posted March 1st, 2008 by Salty DogWell, we served well over one million hits in February. Being that it was only our second month since launch, we were kind of caught with our bibs around our boots. Our regular server has done its best to keep up, but it's just overwhelmed, and recently it's been less than reliable.

We're looking for a boat!
Posted February 19th, 2008 by Salty DogWe are officially looking for our next boat. We've been unofficially looking for several years. Like everyone else, we sit at an anchorage and stare at the other boats. We walk the docks at every marina that will let us (and many that won't). We try to learn all the different designers and manufacturers and models, and the benefits and problems with each. Ten years ago, we loved every boat we saw. We'd daysailed a lot, but had never cut the docklines for any cruising. |
It's Boat Show season
Posted January 13th, 2008 by Salty DogBack around the turn of the century, while working for the big boys from Silicon Valley, we called it the Gee Whiz factor. The more mundane the product (and you can't get much more boring than a computer chip), the more flashy the promotion. |
Halloween Prank
Posted October 6th, 2007 by Salty DogFor some people, halloween is about candy. For me, it was always about a bunch of kids trying to scare the crap out of each other for a full month. Why? Because it's funny, that's why. |
God, I love to complain
Posted October 5th, 2007 by Salty DogI've tried traditional blogging a few times over the years, and just never took to it. My biggest issue is that each time I start, I type a few words, and then just can't imagine anyone wanting to read about my day-to-day crap. Really. For instance: I made several changes to this site today, researched another, emailed a few people, and am going back to work now. |
